Nottinghamshire is conveniently situated at the heart of the UK, with excellent air, rail and road links. The proximity of the M1, A1, A52 and A46 means the county is easily accessible by car, while speedy rail links run from Nottingham to much of the UK.
We're served by two airports: East Midlands Airport: Nottingham, Leicester, Derby brings south Nottinghamshire within easy reach of Scotland, Ireland and the rest of Europe's major cities. And Robin Hood Doncaster Airport is ideal for accessing the north of the county.

Getting to the city
The easiest way to access the city from within the UK is by rail is with East Midlands Trains who run a number of local services to and from Nottingham as well as regular trains between major cities including London, Liverpool, Manchester, Norwich and Sheffield.

East Midlands Airport
Award winning East Midlands Airport now connects to over 90 destinations worldwide and is conveniently situated with excellent road links that place us within an hour’s drive of millions of people in the heart of England and beyond.
By car, we’re handy not only for the M1, but the A42 to the centre of Birmingham, A50 to Stoke and the A453 to Nottingham.
East Midlands Airport is also easily accessible by public transport, with a whole range of bus services that make it quick and convenient to get to and from Nottingham, Leicester, Derby, Loughborough, Long Eaton and Coalville up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And with a choice of three train stations also nearby, it really couldn’t be easier to get to the airport.

Travelling into and around Nottingham city centre
Take a walk
Nottingham has great pedestrianised streets and a compact centre that makes it easy to stroll around. Meaning you can walk across the centre in less than 20 minutes.
Hop on a bus
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) and Trent Barton buses both run a wide range of services into and around the city. The main hubs for Nottingham City Transport buses are located in Old Market Square, Parliament Street and Milton Street beside the Victoria Shopping Centre. The best places to catch a Trent Barton bus are Westfield Broadmarsh Bus Station, Victoria Bus Station and on Friar Lane just off Old Market Square.
Jump on a tram
Nottingham Express Transit (NET) is your direct connection to shopping, leisure and tourist attractions in Nottingham and the surrounding areas. The NET trams provide a quick and easy way to get across Nottingham. They travel as far as Hucknall and serve a number of park and ride car parks. There are five stops in the city centre and it takes less than eight minutes to travel across town.
