Vaughan Williams Fantasia on a theme of Thomas Tallis
Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony
From the first moment, a dramatic brass fanfare and the massive choral entry ‘Behold the Sea!’, Vaughan Williams’ Symphony takes you on a fantastic voyage of the imagination. Inspired by the poetry of Walt Whitman, this vivid music carries you through winds and waves braved by heroic sailors and ships, exhilarated by the immensity and power of the ocean and by the mystery of life itself.
Thrill to the glorious sound of a full symphony orchestra and chorus, performing with top soloists, under the baton of the acclaimed young international conductor James Lowe.
Pre-concert talk at 6.45pm
