Food and Wine Pairing Workshop

A fascinating introduction to food and wine pairing. Learn why certain foods work well with certain wines in this practical hands on evening, tasting a selection of foods to match (or not!) with a selection of wines.

Find out what affect acidity, tannin, sweetness in wines have on food. This is an excellent fun, very practical introduction to appreciating the wonderful world of food and wine.

Have you heard of Umami? This is a savoury taste that is not widely understood, but tonight all will be revealed, really enhancing your appreciation of wine with food. Which wines go with fish? What about cooking methods, and the impact of sauces? This evening really will help you understand what to look for when selecting wines to go with your food choice.

You will taste a variety of food styles and work out which wines are the best matches. A great introduction to food and wine matching.

Introduction to Wine Course

Want to know more about wine? Notts Derby Wine School's tasting evenings will guide you through how to choose better wine, and will start you on your journey of wine discovery. If you know what you like but want to understand why - then this evening is for you. We will taste six wines from around the world, and provide many pointers that will enhance your appreciation of wine.

We will cover how to taste wine like a professional and look at all the major wine regions in a light-hearted and interesting way.

This course is for people who are new to wine tasting and just want to have a bit of fun learning more...

World of Wine Course

The World of Wine tasting is designed as a practical introduction to the world of wine. It is structured for people who enjoy wine and would like to learn more about it in a fun and relaxed environment. It is also a great way to meet new friends who share your enjoyment of wine.

Introduction To White Wine Tasting

This evening we will be looking at some of the great white wines of the world. You'll be blind tasting some wines to see if you can identify the difference in climates and styles.

We’ll talk a bit about the grape varieties and what they taste like as well as the wine regions that they come from, consider their potential for food and wine matching and hone your wine tasting skills.  We'll also cover things like use of oak, find out which is better - cork or screw cap, and bust a few common wine myths along the way.
