Bramley Apple Festival 2014
Tel: +44(0)1636 819 038
Saturday 25 October 2014, 9am - 5pm
Celebrate the UK’s favourite cooking apple in its hometown of Southwell. Whether you’re a serious foodie, or just after a fun day out the Bramley Apple Festival is for you!
Every year, people gather to this very picturesque market town where the apple was first propagated more than 200 years ago from the garden of a cottage on Church Street.
The stunning Southwell Minster, a splendid cathedral with one of the finest Norman naves in Europe, will host a festival of food & drink and all things associated with Southwell’s Bramley Apple heritage. Morris Men performances and live music will accompany you as you wander through the streets of one of the prettiest towns in Nottinghamshire.
While there, why not try to spot the 12 wooden mice carved by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson, a British furniture maker whose trademark was to carve mice on almost every single item he made?
Also, visit the Saracen’s Head pub; formerly the King’s Head where King Charles I surrendered to a Scottish Army in 1646, marking the end of the Civil War.
