1940s Knees Up

Bank Holiday Monday 1 May from 11am

Visitors are invited to step back in time for the annual 1940s Knees-up on May Day Bank Holiday (Monday 1 May), with a replica Mark IX Spitfire, music, dancing and displays bringing the war years to life.

The 1940s Knees Up will take place at both Nottingham Castle and the Museum of Nottingham Life at Brewhouse Yard from 11am.

Activities and entertainment will include the chance for people to find out how they would have coped with rationing, musicians Johnny Victory and Nostalgia Unlimited plus Jayne Darling and the Kalamazoo Dance Band, military displays and the Swing Dancers.  The Spitfire is a full-size replica of the World War Two plane with original cockpit, instruments and undercarriage.

One ticket, priced at £8 for adults, £6 for children or £20 for families of up to two adults and two children (plus booking fees), gives entry to both sites.

More information is available at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/kneesup.
