As well as hit films such as Robin Hood which was released in 2010, directed by Sir Ridley Scott and saw Russell Crowe playing the lead role. Nottinghamshire has some very well known actors and actresses who were born within the county. 

These include; Richard Arthur Beckinsale (6 July 1947 – 19 March 1979), best known for his roles in Porridge and Rising Damp.  He is the father of actresses Samantha and Kate Beckinsale.  Susan Georgina Pollard (born 7 November 1949), most famous for her roles in the sitcoms Hi-de-Hi! and You Rang, M'Lord?.  Sherrie Hewson (born 17 September 1950), actress, novelist and broadcaster.  Anjli Mohindra (born 20 February 1990), actress best known for playing Rani Chandra in The Sarah Jane Adventures and of course Golden Globe winner, Samantha Morton (born 13 May 1977.)
