Robin’s growing popularity at the beginning of the 20th century - especially in America - arrived just in time for the beginnings of the motion picture. Once Robin started moving about, and even talking, his worldwide status was complete.

Here are some of the most famous portrayals of Robin in movie, TV and film.

- BBC adaptations
  
  Including the recent adaptation starring Jonas Armstrong, Maid Marian and her Merry Men and even the 80's new age hooded man.
- Disney animation
  
  The Disney adaptation has become an absolute classic portrayal and yet it was done on quite a small budget as far Disney was concerned.
- Flynn & Fairbanks
  
  For some the best portrayals of Robin Hood was Errol Flynn and Douglas Fairbanks, these early films put Robin in the big league.
- Robin Hood - the movie
  
  The most recent portrayal giving an excellent political and social context to the legend. Ridley Scott really came up trumps eventually.
- Prince of Thieves
  
  A highly stylised version but still remaining very popular. And who can forget the Brian Adams music and video to go with it.
