Stray’s Bookshop is the only remaining Independent Bookshop in the area.
We have a range of genres but in particular, have a wide variety of Children’s, History, Local Interest, Arts, Fiction and we also stock unusual greetings cards and wrap. We also order books and can usually get books within a day. There is also a WHSmiths and Works Bookshop in Newark, but if you’re looking for a ‘must-have’ we can get pretty much anything in print for you, if it’s not on our shelves.
We don’t try to compete on price alone as only internet bookshops seem to manage this, with low overheads and no personal interaction. We do, however aim to offer a personal service and our staff love books! Our regular customers return time after time because we make it easy for them.
We also stock and sell Jazz on CD, in line with our long-standing love of jazz music.
And if you’re out in town, after a browse, you can always nip through to the coffee bar, find a quiet corner and get started with your new book over a latte and teacake!
