Cafes & Tea Rooms

European style cafes with tables that spill out onto the streets at the first glimpse of sun and a traditional English afternoon tea are never far away.

It goes without saying that wherever there's a frothy cappuccino, there'll always be a fine selection of cakes too. Take a tour of our cafes and tea shops to find out the best places to grab a tasty brew or check out some recommendations below.

Nottingham and West Bridgford

Homemade is a cosy, independent cafe in the heart of Nottingham and winner of the Observer Food Awards 'Best Cheap Eats' in 2010. It's a great place to stop off and try some fresh local produce.

Recently voted UK Best Deli, Delilah is beautifully set on Victoria Street near Old Market Square. The team have a passion for the finest and freshest ingredients and the results are superb.

One of the few remaining Victorian Music Halls still operating in the UK, Malt Cross offers homemade food, its very own blend of coffee, loose leaf teas and more. Live bands perform every Tuesday and a range of real ales, lagers and wines too.

Thea Caffea tea room is a family owned hidden gem benefiting from its private and secluded location which seems million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

Tiffin Tea House provides all the comforts of the great British tradition of afternoon tea and more. Located in the quiet surroundings of West Bridgford the cafe is good for people visiting for cricket, football or the National Water Sports Centre.

Sherwood Forest and Beyond

Gannet’s Cafe is set opposite the beautiful Castle grounds in Newark. A favourite with locals, the cafe has an upstairs bistro and downstairs cafe and can accommodate private parties and functions.

During the summer months head to Newfield Dairy for locally made ice cream and other local produce. Alternatively, if you're visiting Southwell then make a stop at Lucy's Vicarage Tearoom where you can tuck into delicious homemade cakes, along with a wide variety of tea and coffee. The award-winning Ollerton Watermill and Tea Shop, located close to Sherwood Forest, is the perfect place to stop off for delicate cakes and sandwiches with a cup of tea.

The setting couldn’t be better for Launay’s with it being just a short stone’s throw from Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre. This restaurant and bar is also the perfect place for a buffet lunch.
