Bread and Bitter

The Bread & Bitter was officially opened by Barrie Judge on December 5th 2007. Back in 1991, Mr Judge shut his bakery on the same site. Now fully restored sixteen years later as a pub, his bakery ovens remain built into the wall in the central area of the pub, along with a “Brewers Graveyard”, full of artefacts from closed down breweries of yesteryear.

The unique stained glass bar area features eleven real ales plus a wide range of world beers on tap. The pub comprises of several sections, including the traditional bar area and the large conservatory, perfect for drinking or dining. Dogs are welcome at the Bread & Bitter, providing they are well behaved!

The pub also boast a varied food and wine menu including our popular table service for Sunday lunch. They are more than happy to reduce portion sizes so children are very welcome.

Monday is curry and quiz night at the Bread. A curry, rice and naan bread, with a drink for only £8.95, followed by the quiz with beer and cash prizes to be won. Tuesday is 2 for 1 pizza night, offering a delicious selection of classic pizzas between 6 and 9pm, with Wednesday offering half price Prosecco for the ultimate midweek treat.

The team look forward to welcoming you to The Bread very soon.

Both hot and cold meals, including a brunch menu served Mon-Sat 10:30am until 4pm. All dishes freshly prepared onsite using wherever possible locally sourced produce. Copies of our current menu are available on request.

Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Preservation, Elsie Mo and Screech Owl are always available as well as one rotating Castle Rock seasonal cask ale. There are also four different guest cask ales that change daily. A wide range of keg drinks are also available, including lager, cider and craft.
