Walks of Life Heritage Centre

The unique collection of old trade handcarts, seed drills and prams depicting social history on wheels is a facinating stroll down memory lane to a time in great grandma's day when our streets bustled with hawkers, tradesmen and vendors.

There are traditional costermongers' barrows to street piano's from 'milk prams' to undertakers' biers.

Imagine the scene of firemen dashing to a blaze pulling a fire fighting barrow. These vehicles date back to an era when the tansport of goods and services depended not on petrol but human muscle power and hard work.

This is an unusual view of our social history on wheels and dates back to around 1840. Come and see for yourself, you will be welcome!
