Bromley House Library

“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.”
Marcus Tullus Cicero (106-43 BC)

Bromley House Library, founded 1816, is a flourishing independent lending library situated in the centre of Nottingham and is one of the few remaining subscription libraries in the country. The library houses around 40,000 books and has a tranquil and unstuffy atmosphere. There are many fine reading rooms spread over three floors of a Grade II* listed Georgian townhouse. In addition there is a beautiful walled garden, one of only two in the city centre. The library is a pleasant place to work, relax or read. Regular open events are held, if you would like to visit groups are welcomed by appointment. For year round access to the collections, building and secluded garden why not consider becoming a member.

The library is on the first floor and above, and regrets that they are currently unable to offer disabled access.

For those who want to visit the library there is a guided tour every Wednesday afternoon at 2.30pm - the tours are free and last about 1 hour with booking essential. Call the library on 0115 9473134 or email enquiries@bromleyhouse.org.

Although the library cannot show people round on an individual basis you can always pop up to the first floor if you are passing and interested in joining or want to find out about the library tours.
