Decisions, decisions, should it be the off-the-wall roast chicken flavouring with semi-sweet blue colouring and extra fizz? Or would the more traditional tropical taste, with added sweetener, moderate fizz with orange colour perhaps be the winning combination?
Just one of the choices facing visitors to the Making it! galleries ? come and see how every day things were invented and made. Housed in a 1907 brewhouse ? the different galleries focus on how ideas are developed from invention through research, design, making and testing, production, marketing and distribution.
The hands-on gizmos and lively exhibits are backed by a team of trained enablers? who make sure the visitors have a fun and exciting time. Visitors can choose one of ten kits which they build from component parts, the end result is for them to take home together with their own designed front page of the newspaper. You will also explore light boxes, drawing boards, computer aided design - feely boxes? ? some evil looking gloopy mixtures! Test shoes, underwear and other things to the max. Put your head in virtual-reality pods, beat the conveyor belt packing chocolates, have a go on the bottle filling production line ? there are also robot challenges. What would you make? How much would you sell it for and who to? Its all at the making it! discovery centre in Mansfield.
