Attenborough Nature Centre is an eco-friendly visitor attraction surrounded by the tranquil waters of the beautiful Attenborough Nature Reserve which is managed and operated by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
Visitors can walk around the network of paths enjoying the peaceful landscapes and learning about the flora and fauna which have made Attenborough a favourite place for visitors for many years.
Attenborough Nature Centre offers a unique environment for conferences, children's parties and education courses in the lovely conference room room and education rooms.
Attenborough Nature Centre has been awarded the Gold award for sustainable tourism in 2007 and was listed in the top ten eco destinations in the world by BBC Wildlife Magazine.
With a visionary eco-design, set against the backdrop of the beautiful Attenborough Nature Reserve, the Centre provides a place for visitors to look, learn and refresh.
The Nature Centre houses a host of facilities including meeting rooms, education facilities, interactive displays, a nature shop, and the Café, serving a selection of quality local, fair trade and organic homemade food.
The shop sells a wide range of nature related items from gifts and souvenirs to nest boxes, hedgehog homes and bird seed and feeders. With our wildlife products and ideas you will find in our back garden you can create your own wildlife garden at home.
To amuse both young and old there is a ‘nature table’, with specimens to look at, puzzles to complete and colouring sheets can be purchased for just 10p. The interactive screens have games such as wordsearch and follow the food chain as well as information pages about habitats and the wildlife that can be found here. A large screen in the cafe also shows nest box images when they are availalble, views of the reserve as well as information on forthcoming events.
At the rear of the building is a special outdoor education area complete with a pond, bird feeding stations and a sensory nature trail to enable visitors to observe wildlife at close quarters. A special trail has been developed in this area with information panels on this special place. Come along and see the Insect Hotel!
Come and discover this fantastic place for yourself, entry is free and the centre is only closed on Christmas Day.
