Beer

In Notts We Love a tasty brew

With its long history of brewing it is not surprising that Nottinghamshire is more passionate than most about beer. The county is the birthplace of iconic companies such as Home Ales, Mansfield Brewery and the much-loved Shipstone’s, which recently re-emerged as a new microbrewery after being closed for more than 20 years.

Book a break in Nottinghamshire and you will discover an array of pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes which are brimming with an ever-changing selection of real (or cask) ales and innovative craft beers. Call into the Nottingham Tourism Centre and pick up a free copy of the Nottingham City Pub and Beer Guide or read it online by clicking on the box below.

You can also follow the Real Ale Trail or take a brewery tour and meet the people who are dedicated to keeping this age-old tradition alive.

If you want to stock up on some of your favourite brews - you'll love the The Real Ale Store in Newark. Visitors to the city can also purchase gift packs of local ales at the Nottingham Tourist Information Centre.

There is also the Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival which takes place every October at Nottingham Castle and is one of the biggest and best-loved beer festivals in the country. If that’s not enough to whet your appetite there are also hundreds of smaller beer festivals which take place throughout the year, including the Newark, Retford and Hucknall beer festivals.
